TAPE — User Guide
Collections are a group of Items and how TAPE organises projects. Within these Collections are Items that relate to the various tasks or deliverables of that project.
To create a Collection simply click on the bar at the top of TAPE, where it reads 'NEW COLLECTION'. Clicking this will prompt to give the collection a name. ENTER to confirm. ENTER may also be used to create a new Collection.
If a collection is not given a name it will be named 'Untitled'.
Cancel the creation of a Collection at any time by clicking elsewhere.
Items are what comprise Collections and can be considered the individual tasks or deliverables of any project.
To create an Item, click on the bar that sits in the middle of an empty Collection where it reads 'ADD'. This will prompt for a name to be given to it. ENTER to confirm. The Item will be created and a prompt will appear for further Items to be added.
If an Item cannot be added without a name.
Cancel the creation of a Item at any time by clicking elsewhere.
RENAMING COLLECTIONS AND ITEMS
To rename a Collection or Item, simply hover over the text label and DOUBLE CLICK. ENTER to confirm changes.
DELETING COLLECTIONS AND ITEMS
Items and their parent Collections may be instantly deleted by editing the name, deleting the text and confirming with ENTER.
This can not be undone.
CHANGING ITEM STATES
Item states are how project completion is tracked in TAPE. States start as neutral but can range from 'unstarted' to 'done'.
Clicking on an Item will cycle through each state. Right click can toggle the current state to 'done', then to 'unstarted'.
On the left of every Collection is a grip that will move this Collection to the top of the stack when clicked.
Collections may be minimised to reduce their visibility when there are many Items.
Clicking the name of the Collection will toggle the visibility between minimised, and the default expanded.
USING THE GRAPH
Under the title of a Collection that contains Items will be the Graph. This displays the Items in percentile groups, arranged by completion.
Hover over the Graph to expand and display more detail, including the percentage and visual representation of the Items in that percentile group.
Click a group to filter items in that group, and again to remove the filter. Right click the Graph to pin it, so that its details remain visible.
IMPORT AND EXPORT
TAPE saves automatically so there is no need to manually do so. However it may be necessary to keep a backup of your data as a JSON formatted .txt file.
Cmd/Ctrl+S will prompt to export all Collection data to the desired location.
This data, or data from another source may be loaded into TAPE by drag and drop.
IMPORTING OTHER DATA
Folders can be dropped in TAPE, and all files and folders found inside will be added as Items. This is very useful for expediting the creation of Items, when they are intended to reference deliverable files.
CSV fromatted .txt list files may also be imported, and will populate as Items in a new Collection.
It is possible to find Items quickly with the search function.
Cmd/Ctrl F will show the search text entry field. Search will ignore Items that are filtered out or in Collections set as Hidden.
Jump quickly to any Collection with Cmd/Ctrl G.
TAPE supports a theme system inspired by the Hundred Rabbits Ecoystem themes. These themes customise the look of TAPE. Theme files are simple SVG format and easily editable to further customise and create new themes.
Themes are loaded by simply drag and drop over the TAPE UI.
Cmd/Ctrl T will reset to the default theme.
Themes are available from https://github.com/aeriform-io/Themes in addition to Hundred Rabbits themes found at https://github.com/hundredrabbits/Themes
